The Dead We Knew Updates
The THE DEAD WE KNEW launch tracker: dated entries for the Early Access rollout, server patches, pricing and announcements — with sources on every item.
Last updated
This is the wiki's launch tracker: every notable THE DEAD WE KNEW development, dated and sourced. Early Access means the game will change — server types, balance, features — and this log is how you tell what actually happened from what someone claims happened.
September 2026 — launch window
Sep 16, 2026 — Early Access unlock. THE DEAD WE KNEW went live on Steam in early time zones (Sept 15 in the Americas), ahead of the announced September 17 date. The store page flipped to "released" with live pricing — see the release date timeline.
Sep 16, 2026 — server lineup confirmed at launch: co-op + PvP. The official Discord announcements confirmed that launch servers include player-vs-player, with co-op play throughout — see the multiplayer guide.
Sep 16, 2026 — PvE-only servers confirmed for an early patch. In the same announcement cycle: PvE-only servers are planned for an early post-launch patch, no exact date given — details in the PvE guide. (Announcement quoted via community-tracked sources; to be re-verified in-server.)
Sep 8, 2026 — official PC requirements final. The store page's spec block settled at Core i5-9400F / RX 580 / 12 GB RAM / 60 GB minimum, with i7-9700 / 16 GB / GTX 1070 recommended — full table in the system requirements.
August 2026 — the delay
Aug 24, 2026 — original launch date passes. The date advertised across the game's promotional posts came and went with no release, triggering the first wave of community concern on Steam — covered in the delay timeline and the trust timeline.
What to expect next
Early Access titles move on patch cycles. The things this tracker watches for, in order of likelihood:
- The PvE-only server patch — already confirmed, date pending.
- Balance and performance patches — the standard Early Access rhythm; the performance hub tracks spec-relevant changes.
- Controller support upgrades — the store currently says "partial"; see the controller page.
- Console or Linux news — nothing announced; if that ever changes, it lands on the platforms hub immediately.
Entries on this page carry their date and source so you can judge freshness yourself. If you spot a development we have not logged, the official Discord and Steam community hub are where it will have happened.
